The NorOp study is based on a quality assurance study conducted at Kongsberg Hospital during the period 2018–2021. The results from this preliminary study have been published in three articles in international peer-reviewed journals:

Factors associated with persistent opioid use, such as chronic pain, concerns about surgery, and acute postoperative pain, were also associated with opioid use after discharge.

Remifentanil and oxycodone on the operating table resulted in little or no improvement in the patient's experience.
